Artist Bio
Montana natives Joselyn & Don’s intoxicating music is a walk through mountain wildflowers and desert Joshua trees. The duo’s 2020 debut album "Soar" and 2022 EP "Seeds & Bones" have been warmly received by critics and independent radio worldwide. Publications like Americana UK, Twangville, Americana Highways and others praise Joselyn Wilkinson's "one-of-a-kind voice," Don Barrozo's "fluid guitar work" and the "rich, lyrical, wild, spiritual imagery" of their music.
Joselyn & Don have toured throughout the West and supported notable artists including Chris Pierce, Chris Stills (with Lukas Nelson) and Jess Williamson. They have appeared on Prairie Public Radio's The Great American Folk Show and were featured in Noel Paul Stookey's (Peter, Paul & Mary) Greenwich Village Folk Festival.
Joselyn & Don’s latest project chronicles love, loss and the search for home and identity on the back roads of the American West. Due for release in 2025, its songs tell of living between two worlds, while relating the stories that have made them who they are. “Working the Hi-Line” is one such story, chronicling the journey of Don’s father, a young migrant laborer from the Philippines on Montana’s Hi-Line railroad who became a bandleader in Great Falls, MT living his American dream.
Joselyn & Don’s engaging performances feature finger-picked guitar and tenor ukulele, allowing Wilkinson's voice to shine through with strength and vulnerability as the duo invite the audience to join in on their journey. They perform as a duo, trio or four-piece and can be booked as a featured act or included on a double bill.
Outreach programs
Joselyn & Don lead powerful community engagement/residency activities including group songwriting workshops. Participants learn songwriting basics and connect with their own creativity through a guided group songwriting exercise, where they create an original song on a chosen theme. This process builds community, unlocks inspiration and uplifts individuals.
Joselyn Wilkinson has led group songwriting and drum circle workshops for over 15 years, including as an Artist-in-Residence with the Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs. She is an alumnus of UCLA’s Department of World Arts & Cultures and a recording artist. Don Barrozo is a respected composer, producer and performer with a degree in Music from University of Northern Colorado. He is a multi-instrumentalist and guitarist.
