Artist Bio
Montana Singer/Songwriter, Mike Murray, has a voice that is honest, direct, and embodies the pureness of a classic folk storyteller. His music carries a message of camaraderie, empathy and naturalism, while drawing inspiration from his adventurous life experiences in the outdoors. His tales are all his own, but somehow the way he tells them, we can all find ourselves in his words.
With a career in the music industry that spans over more than a decade, thousands of live performances, and seven studio albums, Murray has developed the experience and versatility to explore a broad range of genres, both on stage and in the studio. His writing and composing ebb and flow from his recent piano-based album Crystal Chandelier, to his rock album We Are Like Warriors, to his fully fledged pop-rock album Difficult Days, to his Americana albums, The Devil’s Rope, and Tumbleweed. His wide stylistic range and creative freedom are prevalent throughout his work.
Murray released his seventh studio album Crystal Chandelier on December, 1st 2024, on all major streaming platforms. Crystal Chandelier is a piano-based album that reflects Murray’s introspective look at the landscape of the human heart.
Murray signed The Devil’s Rope to A-Tone Recordings a label of Extreme Music. Renowned as production music’s poster child, Extreme Music has been a trusted media industry taste-maker since 1997. A-Tone Recordings is a connoisseur’s label celebrating the World’s greatest Musicians curated and produced by the legendary Steve Lindsey: the man behind the sounds of Leonard Cohen, Elton John, Bruno Mars and many more.
Some of Murray’s additional highlights include performances at SXSW (Austin, TX), Wachholz College Center (Kalispell, MT), Red Ants Pants Music Festival (White Sulphur Springs, MT), The Crown Guitar Festival (Bigfork, MT), Live From The Divide (Bozeman, MT), Under the Big Sky Festival (Whitefish, MT), The Wilma Theatre (Missoula, MT), radio play, and having his music licensed nearly one hundred times for both network and streaming television and film.
Outreach programs
I have been engaging in music outreaches into schools off and on for nearly twenty years. I offer performances with storytelling and exploration of song content including nature conservation, human rights, Montana history and ecology. I can also facilitate songwriting workshops and/or inspirational lectures on arts entreprenuership. I can also provide my own sound system for school outreaches if required.
