Artist Bio

Referred to as a “ONE-BAND AMERICANA FESTIVAL THE HELLO DARLINS are some of Canada’s most in-demand professional session & touring musicians who came together to forge a distinct hybrid of traditional country, gospel and blues. Led by Romani-Canadian musician, Candace Lacina and keyboardist Mike Little, ctheir work with artists includes a list that ranges from Shania Twain, The Crashtest Dummies, as well as the late B.B. King and more.

With their debut Album “Go By Feel”, The Darlins quickly rose to international acclaim. ‘The Alders & The Ashes’ was released in March 2024 which charted at Number 3 on Euro Americana and is a 2024 feature album for ABC Country Music Australia.

In addition to performing in London’s Trafalgar Square for Canada Day in 2023, they completed four European tours and a 36 date tour with Matt Andersen which included many sold-out stops at Massey Hall, National Arts Centre and Southern and Northern Jubilees.

“The Hello Darlins brought an unprecedented amount of energy to the stage and left absolutely nothing on the table when closing their show! I know I speak for everyone around us that night that we wanted to hear much more music from this band “ - Great Dark Wonder, USA

“Wow. Do they ever put on a show! Their vocals and musicianship immediately draw you in and you can feel the passion, emotion and good feels… you just can’t help being swept away by The Hello Darlins with every second passing by.” - Hidden Beats, CAD

The Audience was in complete awe of this band as more and more applause rang out. - Crucial Rhythm, CAD

“The Hello Darlins did not just magically appear overnight on the music scene. They have spent years as touring musicians and studio session players for artists considered household names - and it shows on stage.”

Outreach programs

Mike Little has been a professional music educator for over 30 years - specifically in the art of hammond B3 and vintage keyboards.

We have lead songwriting and production workshops as well as produced Master Classes and online educational videos.

Candace has also spoken and lead workshops and focus groups internationally that represent her heritage as a Canadian-Romani person. The Hello Darlins is not traditional Roma-folk music, but is influenced by traditional instrumentation including accordion, fiddle, and guitar. Many Roma people are still secretive about their ethnic background because throughout many places in the world, especially Europe - Gypsy people are still discriminated against. In Canada, it is a bit different. Discrimination takes on a quiet form, due to erasure. People do not even know what it means to be Roma, and many people claim the terms “gypsy" carelessly. Candace is very proud to be the first Indo-Romani person, and woman, to lead a band and play traditional songs, as well as our own Folk-roots style.
