Describe any other specific program, practicies, or strategies your organization employs to make a great impact in your area
1) We provide 100 free adult tickets to the tribe to distribute to members who would like to attend a concert, but cannot afford to do so.
2) We have begun to offer free daytime outreach programs at the public libraries for seniors who no longer drive in the winter or at night.
3) We are bringing in artists who excel in outreach programming, but who we do not contract with for concerts.
4) We offer low priced adult tickets at $13-15 each, which allows the economically disadvantaged members of our community to attend.
Application Narrative
How is the proposed season different from past programming
1) We are going to be promoting more free adult outreach programs for adults who cannot attend evening performances and home-schooled youth.
2) We plan to bring in artists who are not performing as part of our concert series, but will be exclusively providing outreach programs.
If you are taking an artistic risk in programming, what is it and why is it a risk?
We try very hard to offer a diversity of programming. This year we have contracted with a modern dance troupe out of Salt Lake City, Repertory Dance Theatre. This is an artistic risk because dance is not appreciated as much as music in our rural area.
How is your performing arts series significant to your community?
Mission Valley Live offers the only live performing arts series in the Mission Valley. Without MVL patrons of the arts would have to travel 1-2 hours to attend programs in Missoula or the Kalispell/Whitefish area. Many of our audience members could not afford to make the drive nor purchase the higher priced tickets sold in these towns.
What is the audience you wish to reach? (E.g., Describe your current audience or new audience segments you wish to target.)
Our current audience make-up is as follows: 60+ years of age: 70%; Adults Under 60 years of age: 20%; and Youth 18 and Under: 10%. Native Americans make up 3% of our audience.
We would like to increase the attendance of adults under the age of 60, youth, and the Native American population that resides here on the Flathead Reservation.
How do you propose to reach this audience? (E.g., Describe program, operational, or marketing strategies that you will use to meet your goal.)
Adults under 60: Many of these individuals are parents of our youth or taking care of their grandchildren. We will promote the concerts harder via our school outreach programs in an attempt to bring in more families.
Youth: Our concerts are free to youth 18 and under. We plan to provide students with a brochure of our concerts at the beginning of the season to promote a larger concert attendance by our students.
Native Americans: We have a new contact who is a musician and member of the tribe. We plan to solicit his assistance in finding ways to engage more Native Americans. We will continue our policy of supplying the tribe with 100 free tickets to our concerts.

Explanation for unusually low or high numbers
RDT is a three day residency. It is unusually high due to the number of people (10-12) traveling to Montana, the extensive outreach programming (approx. 10 workshops), and the level of technical support required to put on the production.
