2025 Showcase Application Review

1) I wanted to explain my genre choices, because Luca’s music is so hard to categorize. I do not want him to be pigeonholed because his style is so unique.
I put down ROCK because Luca’s specialty is re-arranging rock songs for acoustic guitar, from Eminem to AC/DC to Red Hot Chili Peppers. These are not the latest rock songs or the classic rock songs, but they are popular songs that his audience recognizes. The arrangements highlight the versatility of the acoustic guitar without losing the power and the dynamics of the original songs. And the theatrics of Luca’s playing style highlight his incredible individual skills without getting lost in the volume and special effects of the electric guitar. So it is a rock show but with a wider appeal that fits PAC patrons.

My other genre choice was EXPERIMENTAL/NEW because Luca has invented instruments and playing techniques that are unique to him. It is not experimental, free form music but it is Luca’s inherent curiosity to find ways to produce guitars with new abilities and the techniques to play them that are at the core of his show.

2) For the video selections, I have submitted two 3 minute compilation tapes with 5 selections on each. They are only snippets but you will get a taste of Luca’s different instruments and the techniques he uses on each, plus the types of material in his show. Luca uploaded these on a private YouTube channel so you will see only a handful of views listed. On Luca’s official You Tube public videos he has as many as 16 million views on one selection!
