Showcase Description

Meagher of the Sword tells the incredible story behind the man on the horse outside the Montana state capital. Thomas Francis Meagher, the Irish patriot who became Montana's first acting territorial governor, comes to vivid life during this unique impactful narrative, scripted with many of Meagher's own eloquent words.
Illuminating his life and legacy with relevant folk music, lies, legends and a few laughs, this one-hour performance includes a slide show of places and people significant to Meagher's unbelievable story that touches four continents.
Exhaustively researched since 2009 (on-going), Meagher of the Sword has toured for over a decade, including Ireland and most recently, Tasmania. The production, headlining the Port Polson Players theatre's signature Education Through Entertainment platform, led to the creation of the first-ever full-length musical about Thomas Meagher, No Coward's Epitaph.
We want to share the full experience with Montana. There is no other show like it.

Please answer indicate that your 2 most viable touring months in the upcoming season(s).

Bookings are generally available all months of the year except July and August, although summer dates may also be open; best to check early. Depending on mileage and length of stay, most dates work throughout the year.
That being said, the earlier bookings are requested, the better the chances of settling on preferred dates and performance options.

Community & Educational Outreach

As many performances take place in local school auditoriums, the convenience of conducting outreach to students is obvious.
* We've conducted workshops for History, English, Music and Drama classes in both middle and high schools. Sessions can be either purely informational or hands-on.
* School assemblies are informational and fit into class period allotments.
* Civic groups and local theatre companies, etc. can be addressed, depending on time constraints.
* Customized programs are our specialty; we are open to most reasonable suggestions.

Is an outreach performance included in your mainstage performance fee?

Workshops, assemblies and other outreach activities are always available. Depending on details [mileage from performance site, length of sessions, etc.), outreach is included in performance fee. Each option is considered on a per-case basis; most additional fees, if any, will not exceed $50.

Additional Tech Requirements

Please note that we are very adaptable - we've performed in venues from state-of-the-art auditoriums to back porches and living rooms.
We travel with most of our technical requirements - stool, music stands, table and projector.
For projector, we only need a screen or a white wall; can either be behind (if raised above performers' heads) or to the side. Lack of projection capabilities is not a deal-breaker.
Microphones and amplification are space-dependent; many venues (depending on size and/or acoustics) may not need it. Best to query.
