Presented Thursday, October 8 11:00-11:45am, Virtual Workshop
with Emily Wolfram, Executive Director, MPAC

As traditional arts grantmakers face rising demand, creative organizations in rural Montana need diverse, resilient funding strategies. This 45-minute session provides a practical roadmap for securing support from health-focused grantmakers, health systems, and regional community foundations.

We will examine key regional funders—including grantmaking healthcare foundations, healthcare providers, and insurers—and explain how creative programs can qualify for health-aligned dollars.

Key Takeaways:

  • Understanding Community Health Needs Assessments (CHNAs) and how to align creative projects with hospital funding priorities.

  • Strategies for positioning arts and culture as scalable interventions for rural well-being, behavioral health, and youth resilience.

  • An overview of upcoming developments in DC to keep an eye on, including the federal OBBBA Rural Health Transformation Program and state-level youth mental health settlement funds going to all 50 states.

We are supported in part by grants from the Montana Arts Council (an agency of the state government), and the National Endowment for the Arts. Additional support from coal tax placed into Montana's Cultural and Aesthetic Projects Trust Fund.
