Showcase Description

Reckless Son, the nationally acclaimed solo show written and performed by singer-songwriter Matt Butler, was inspired by his journey performing over 100 concerts in jails and prisons across the country. Through a combination of spoken word monologues and songs performed on acoustic guitar, Reckless Son sheds light on the stories of people who have experienced incarceration and turns a compassionate eye to their lives before, during and after their time behind prison walls. The Reckless Son showcase will include a selection of ‘chapters’ from the show, with each chapter including a monologue that introduces a song. Each chapter reflects on unique encounters with individuals from various correctional institutions and the amount of chapters performed will be determined by showcase length.
