Performer Description
John Hewitt is often considered one of the hardest working musicians and touring songwriters in Western Canada. Performing over 150 shows per year, managing an agency and production company (Second Sunset) and producing 9 full length studio albums and a book since March of 2020 it’s easy to see why. With recent appearances at Alberta Showcase, Your Roots Are Showing (Ireland) and Breakout West alongside major Festival appearances like Edmonton Folk Fest, Canmore Folk Fest, Red Lodge and Whitefish Songwriter Festivals.

We tour all year round. At the moment outside of Summer festivals we enjoy being on the road from September - November and from February - May. Any months within those ranges are acceptable. We are based close by so the winter months are not out of the question we just tend to go in the studio in December and January.
Community & Educational Outreach
Having performed several songwriting festivals across the Western United States and Canada we can perform rounds and host workshops themselves on songwriting. Much of the band has either gone through 10 years of conservatory or has graduated from Grant Macewan for music specializing in harmony, chord changes, notation etc. We also produce within the same group a tribute to Gordon Lightfoot that talks about his songwriting, his legacy and some Canadian history (With songs like Canadian Railroad Trilogy and Alberta Bound)
Is an outreach performance included in your mainstage performance fee?
No. We do offer additional workshops and specially curated shows but these are in addition to any evening performances we arrange.
Outreach depends on the show and the timeline. We offer a Gordon Lightfoot tribute show (Condensed) that talks about Canadian history and songwriting. We also offer songwriting workshops. These can range anywhere from an additional $350 - $1000 depending on how in depth the additional performance is.

Promotion Publicity
On social media between all platforms we have over 4,000 followers and an email list over 1,000. We have a history of touring through Montana and have connections from Red Ants Pants to Mike Booth at the Red Lodge Songwriter Festival. We advertise on our websites (Two, one personal and one with the agency) and actively promote shows by email and obtaining radio interviews and paper/blog write ups to promote the concerts.

Showcase Description
John Hewitt alongside his backing band the New Americans is one of the busiest bands in Western Canada. Releasing 9 studio albums since 2020 the versatility of this act is second to none. Concerts cover a large ground in the genre department focusing on singer/songwriter Americana with hints of folk, blues and 60's influenced pop/rock. John is an expert storyteller and humourist with over 10,000 hours on stage experience conducting has band alongside the audience. The band involves some of Edmontons highest skilled musicians flavouring John's original songs with three part harmony and exceptional arrangements curated and produced by John himself. John's music ranges from songs about the Canadian Prairie's and Canadian/American historical stories to poetic imagery and more obscure poetic lyricism that pulls from the wells of the like of Dylan, Morrison and Young.
