Performer Description

The Derina Harvey Band is a Celtic Rock group that has been described as a rockier version of Great Big Sea - if fronted by Adele! The band offers a fresh take on traditional folk tunes as well as their own original contemporary folk songs. Their upbeat live show features powerful lead vocals from Derina Harvey backed by a vacuum-tight band. They toured across North America in support of their 2023 release "Waves of Home", winning fans over and earning an ECMA for "Fans' Choice Entertainer of the Year" in 2024 and two nods for CFMAs in 2025.

Community & Educational Outreach

During our visit to your community, dHb can provide an educational matinee performance that combines music, stories, and education. It can be adapted for children, local performance groups, and assisted living facilities.

The matinee is 45-60 min and includes:
Fun music jargon - a few terms to learn through practical use
Choreographed group engagement - sing/dance-along parts to fun shanty songs
Songwriting insight - stories of how our songs are created; initial idea to finished piece

Content also touches on themes of folklore, self-esteem, and where to find help when you need it. We discuss the differences and commonalities between the local community and our authentic experiences and traditions growing up on Canada's East Coast.

Is an outreach performance included in your mainstage performance fee?

No, but the fee for an added outreach is negotiable. The fee request generally falls in the $1000-1300 range (full fee), but the final fee quote is contingent upon a number of factors: location (is it in the main concert venue or at a different location?), date/time of outreach (is it scheduled for the same day as the main concert, or is it on a different day?), length of outreach, etc. With that said, we always do whatever we can to fit with the financial constraints of the organization we're working with.
