Hailed a “NYC darling” by Time Out New York, Svetlana's New York Collective is an award-winning, internationally touring ensemble. Known for “exuberant, foot-stomping music” (WPIX 11), they blend swing, straight-ahead jazz, and originals with charismatic vocals and virtuoso improvisation. Their Billboard #1 album Night at the Movies amassed over 2M streams. They headline major venues worldwide (Carnegie Hall, etc) and lead the award-winning Swing Makes You Sing! program presenting 'jazz to kids' interactive shows, movement, and storytelling.

We tour year-round. Many presenters schedule Swing Makes You Sing! during the school year (Sept–May) to take full advantage of our robust outreach and educational offerings, while others present it at outdoor summer festivals and family stages. We’re flexible and adapt to what best serves each presenter’s goals and audience.
Community & Educational Outreach
Outreach offerings are an essential part of SMYS!:
School concerts / school band clinics (elementary / middle / high school)
Master classes in specialized music schools and universities (band / combo leading; music theory; songwriting; improvisation; instrument - piano, vocal, drum set; music business; social media; touring; etc)
Master classes and showcases for musicians at all levels (from amateur to advanced public school students)
Specialized topic concerts for kids (e.g. Music of Duke Ellington; Who is Ella? Who is Louis?; Spring / Earth Celebration; Women in Jazz)
We have downloadable study guides, handouts, lesson plans and an interactive virtual program that can be presented in preparation to our visit.
Is an outreach performance included in your mainstage performance fee?
Outreach is a crucial part and built-in component of Swing Makes You Sing! Our outreach activities and fees (additional to the main Swing Makes You Sing! concert) depend on the overall engagement fee and are to be discussed on presenter by presenter basis.

We often assist presenters in marketing efforts to promote the shows:

Technical requirements represented here are an 'ideal' set up - we will be flexible in working with the venue to ensure that we can deliver quality musical programming, but incorporating existing resources. The band configuration is also flexible (from 4 to 8 people) which may reduce the technical burden on the presenter.

Showcase Description
Swing Makes You Sing! (SMYS!) is an award-winning jazz program for kids and families, designed to uplift, connect, and spark joy through interactive concerts (and outreach activities) - performed by top-tier jazz musicians offering a vibrant, age-appropriate highly interactive introduction to jazz. SMYS! presents jazz as a Black American art form - with a diverse band on stage, it models representation while fostering creativity, listening, and collaboration.
SMYS! explores jazz elements (blues, swing, improvisation) through original jazz songs and standards - while the audience sings, dances, claps, responds, and creates alongside the band!
Highlights include a NOLA second line entrance, writing a blues with audience prompts, instrument demos, dance-driven swing. The show concludes with “What a Wonderful World,” and parade with the whole audience - emphasizing resilience, community, and joy.
The program flexibly aligns with presenter's scale and curriculum tie-ins/ topics/goals
