July Member News: Celebrating Larry Gomoll

A Legacy of Service and Music in Great Falls

At the end of June, the Montana arts community marked the retirement of a true local legend. Larry Gomoll, a long-serving MPAC board member and the Executive Director of the Great Falls Community Concert Association (GFCCA), officially stepped down from his role. His incredible tenure was celebrated in style at the GFCCA’s June 16th concert, where Larry was honored with a formal commendation from the Mayor of Great Falls and a plaque commemorating his retirement, followed by a warm reception with friends, family, and colleagues.

Larry’s impact stretches far beyond the concert stage. After a remarkable 32-year career teaching overseas in Guam and Saudi Arabia, he "retired" back to Great Falls in 2020—only to jump right back into serving his community. Over the years, Larry has taught college for 14 years, served as a docent at the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center, and lent his leadership to the boards of MPAC, the Mansfield Advisory Board, and the Mansfield Foundation.

As he prepares to celebrate his 86th birthday this September, Larry is keeping as busy as ever. He is currently halfway through writing a 500-page memoir detailing his fascinating life and adventures. Thank you, Larry, for your tireless dedication to MPAC, GFCCA, and the arts across Montana!
